drey’s thoughts:
Life sure has fun with Robert MacAulay in Amanda Scott’s third installment in the Lairds of the Loch series. He’s visiting neighbors when he runs into Muriella MacFarlan wandering her father’s woods. Attraction blossoms, but he’s not ready for anything – serious or otherwise, and she’s too stubborn and headstrong to want a husband.
Then trouble visits, and Robert and Muriella find themselves wed. By ancient law, yes, but wed nonetheless.
I enjoyed the interactions between Robert and Muriella. He’s strong and stands his ground firmly, but always fairly. She’s enjoyably sassy with a touch of snarky for good measure. I don’t read a lot of Highland romances, so the brogue threw me for a loop, but the story kept me interested and the characters kept me entertained. What else can you ask for?

Cara Elliott’s Sinfully Yours:
After an eventful Season, Anna Sloane longs for some peace and quiet to pursue her writing. Though her plots might be full of harrowing adventure and heated passion, she’d much prefer to leave such exploits on the page rather than experience them in real life. Or so she thinks until she encounters the darkly dissolute – and gorgeously charming – Marquess of Davenport. Davenport has a reputation as a notorious rake whose only forte is wanton seduction. However the real reason he’s a guest at the same remote Scottish castle has nothing to do with Anna . . . until a series of mysterious threats leave him no choice but to turn to her for help in stopping a dangerous conspiracy. As desire erupts between them, Davenport soon learns he’s not the only one using a carefully crafted image to hide his true talents. And he’s more than ready to show Anna that sometimes reality can be even better than her wildest imaginings . . .

drey’s thoughts:
I really liked Cara Elliott’s first Hellions of High Street novel, Scandalously Yours, so I had to check out its sequel – and Sinfully Yours doesn’t disappoint.
Anna Sloane has always been the perfect Sloane sister – perfectly groomed, perfectly charming, perfectly willing to do what’s necessary to help her family. But now that Olivia’s married, Anna no longer has to worry about fitting in to find a husband… So she focuses on penning her famous adventures that are the rage of the Ton. Not that they know she’s the author – Heaven forbid a respectable young lady such as Anna would be scandalous enough to actually be published!
When Anna meets the notorious Marquess of Davenport, she’d like to throw propriety to the winds, yet daren’t quite do so. Years of proper behavior drummed into her psyche and all that, y’know… He’s oh so deliciously tempting though, and the sparks sizzle between Anna and Devlin.
As with Scandalously Yours, the dialog and the story are smashingly entertaining. I cannot wait to read the next Sloane sister’s story now!
